Aqua Expeditions: Peru's Amazon River Cruises
We are pleased to introduce discerning and adventurous travelers to the M/V Aqua, the Peruvian Amazon's first luxury boutique expedition vessel. The M/V Aqua is scheduled to begin service in January, 2008 as the most deluxe vessel in the Peruvian Amazon. The M/V Aqua will operate year-round for 3, 4 and 7 night excursions from the port city of Iquitos, an easy 1 ½ hour flight from Lima, the capital of Peru.
The destination
Aqua Expeditions is entirely unique to the Peruvian Amazon, exploring the more remote and pristine areas of the Pacaya-Samiria Reserve in the upper Amazon River and its tributaries. This protected wilderness of over five million acres, teeming with rare flora and fauna, is home to more than 500 species of birds: macaw, river gull, kingfisher and riotously colored parrots - plus black alligators, jaguar, turtles, spider monkeys, giant otter, and the unique pink dolphin.
Accommodations
M/V Aqua is 140-feet-long with 12 spacious and well appointed guest suites. All the suites are 230-240 square feet with large outward-facing panoramic picture windows and en-suite sitting areas.
In addition to nightly culinary feasts and the best South American wines, a crew of 14 and 3 naturalist guides are available non-stop. Onboard - a bar, boutique, observation deck and outdoor lounge lift this excursion experience far above other Amazon River tours.
Four of the suites can interconnect for family adventure travel and three piloted launches carry small groups with guides deep into the mysterious fingers of the fabled Amazon River.
